Information Technology as a Leadership Tool

Hi class,
I have chosen the slide share for collaboration/communication tool. This tool will aid us all in the future and anyone else that chooses to use it sharing slide presentations with the class and the world.

The productivity tool that I chose to use was simply the google calendar. I have listed class on 6/24 @ 5:30pm and a dentist appointment in Winston Salem on 6/25 @ 10:00 am.

Diversity Speaker

I believe Ms. Monica Walker, speaker for Tuesday night was very knowledgable in the field of diversity. I think Ms. Walker brought it home to us in that we all are somewhat racist and or judgemental. The example given about the woman in the grocery store with two buggies of groceries and pulled out an EBT card, I had pictured of a different ethnicity, (not African American) I was judgemental and assumed that she had a lot of children at home and was lazy, when really I had no idea of her circumstances. The lesson for me was how unfair it was of me to make assumptions about this woman because she was using food stamps. I had made an assumption about her and it made me feel a little hypocritical.

Information Technology-Ancient Futures

In viewing the video about the Ladukh people, it reminds us of times we have heard about from our grandparents or other relatives and friends when there was no public transportation, no tv, just people who worked hard all day together, who had dinner together, lived together and slept together with low or no crime rate and surrounded by other families and good neighbors. Today some of us don't know our neighbor's name, we have cars and jobs, so we drive ourselves in cars to the jobs we have leaving no real time for bonding with family or talking with your neighbors. The opportunity to physically communicate with family and friends and build relationships of any kind are limited specifically due to technology. We recognize it now, but what and when will we do something about it.

Brenda: Nature Technology Humanity

Nature Technology Humanity

I am inclined to agree with group discussion regarding cultural lag. Technoloy moves ahead so fast that we tend to lag behind. Also in viewing the meatrix video on last evening, it depicted technology to double, triple produce beef and chicken. So much so that in some instances some farm animals are so mass produced that their feet never touch the ground. As a result of this technology, nature is altered and humans digest harmful things to the body. In the last movie an architect suggested that he "lived in what he created," but what do you do about beyond what you have created?

Where Do The Children Play

Where Do The Children Play shows us a particular place in time where children are able to run and play outside using their very own imagination and creativity in play and entertaining themselves. With the rise of technology there is limited opportunity for youth to exercise the brain nor the body. We have remote controlls for the tv, cell phones, I pods, video games all of which give the opportunity to exercise our fingers.
